Saudi Arabia will allow pilgrims residing inside the country to perform the Umrah, beginning on Oct. 4, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday (October 2).
A total of 309,686 Umrah permits have been issued, the report said.
The decision to resume the pilgrimage came seven months after it was suspended to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
The report also said foreign pilgrims will be accepted from Nov. 1.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry announced on Friday the registration of 481 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total cases to 335,578. The death toll reached 4,823 with the reporting of 29 new fatalities.
