A profound wave of shock and disbelief has swept through the Islamic University (IU) community following a horrific act of violence that claimed the life of a respected faculty member on Wednesday afternoon. Asma Sadia Runa, an Assistant Professor and the Chairperson of the Social Welfare Department, was fatally attacked inside her campus office, leaving the university in a state of mourning and intense grief.
According to preliminary reports from law enforcement, the primary suspect has been identified as Fazlur Rahman, a member of the university’s support staff. Initial investigations suggest that the tragedy was the culmination of a long-standing dispute involving a requested job transfer and allegations of unpaid wages. The encounter turned deadly when the suspect reportedly attacked the Chairperson within the departmental premises.
