In a tragic incident in Darbhanga district, Bihar, 65-year-old shopkeeper Abdul Salam was beaten to death following a localized dispute. The confrontation reportedly began when Salam, while heading to work, encountered individuals making abusive remarks against the Muslim community. In an attempt to de-escalate the tension, he reportedly argued that responsibility for any grievance should lie with the guilty individual rather than an entire community. This intervention led to a violent reaction, where a man identified as Manish Kumar Ram allegedly struck Salam on the head with an iron tool, causing him to collapse.
Despite being rushed to a nearby health center, Salam was declared dead upon arrival. In the aftermath, local residents maintained composure, which authorities credited with preventing the situation from spiraling into wider communal violence. Following the filing of a formal case, police moved swiftly to arrest four individuals, including the primary accused and members of his family, as the investigation into the killing continues.
