The government has officially rolled out the Honorable Prime Minister’s “Family Card” initiative, designed to provide a monthly financial safety net of 2,500 BDT to underprivileged families across designated districts and City Corporations. In line with the vision of a Digital Bangladesh, beneficiaries no longer need to wait in lines; the funds will be transferred directly to their chosen mobile wallets or bank accounts, ensuring they can access their allowance right from home.
A key highlight of this project is its focus on female-headed households. By prioritizing these families, the government aims to strengthen the financial independence of marginalized women, marking a significant milestone in uplifting the lives of those at the grassroots level.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday (March 10) at 10:00 AM near the Wahed Ali Shah Mazar field in Boro Tulakandi, Bhairab, Kishoreganj. The event was organized to distribute Family Cards among the local underprivileged community.
Mr. Md. Shariful Alam, MP, the Honorable State Minister for the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing the crowd, the Minister assured everyone that this program is here to stay and will continue to support those in need. He sent a clear message that the process remains transparent: no one should pay bribes or face any form of harassment to receive their card. He also took a moment to personally pledge his support to the community, promising to stand by them through both good times and bad.
The event saw a strong turnout of local leadership and officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj, Mr. Aslam Molla, and the Superintendent of Police, Dr. S.M. Farhad Hossain. Also in attendance were the Bhairab UNO, the Circle Officer, senior district officials, local political representatives, and members of the press.
