Nine candidates have been sentenced to 15 days in jail for hiring proxies to sit for their recruitment exams at the Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The fraud was uncovered on Wednesday during the viva voce stage of the recruitment process. Officials noticed clear inconsistencies between the candidates’ handwriting and the scripts submitted in the written examination.
The written test, held on February 20, was conducted for 59 vacant posts, including Office Assistant and Security Guard. During questioning, the accused admitted they did not appear in the written exam themselves and instead paid others to take the test on their behalf.
The nine candidates are from different upazilas, including Hossainpur, Pakundia, and Itna.
A mobile court, led by executive magistrates, immediately handed down the jail sentences to all nine offenders.
Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Nahid Hasan Khan confirmed the incident, saying the administration follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and is committed to ensuring a fair and merit-based recruitment process.
