Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladeshi clothing entrepreneurs usually expect a peak in trade. However, manufacturers are experiencing a significant decline in sales this year. Two primary factors have been identified: the absence of foreign buyers and a sharp downturn in local wholesale trade.

While demand usually surges during the Eid season, this year is proving different. A visit to the wholesale markets in Shahjadpur reveals that while manufacturing continues, sales are drastically lower than in previous years.
Consequently, the sales rate for this festival is undeniably lower than in past seasons. One manufacturer in Shahjadpur Upazila, who operates nearly 50 power looms, noted that his production reached 90% last year, but has dropped to 70–80% this year due to the lack of buyers. As a result, manufacturers are feeling the pressure as tensions rise and business stability falters.
