The Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day were observed in Kishoreganj with profound respect and solemnity. The commemoration began at 12:01 AM on Saturday at the central Shaheed Minar, where Mazharul Islam, Member of Parliament for Kishoreganj-1, Deputy Commissioner Aslam Molla, Superintendent of Police Dr. S.M. Farhad Hossain, and representatives from the Kishoreganj Press Club formally initiated the program by placing floral wreaths. Thereafter, the District BNP and various government, non-government, and social organizations paid their tributes. Soon after, a vast stream of people from all walks of life—including students, teachers, and journalists—gathered at the monument, standing in long queues to honor the language heroes. The atmosphere turned deeply emotional as the soulful tune of “Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano Ekushey February” resonated through the air. Beyond the midnight tributes, the day featured Provat Feri, discussion meetings, art competitions, and cultural events. Speakers emphasized that the supreme sacrifice of the 1952 martyrs secured the dignity of the Bengali language and continues to inspire all democratic movements. To ensure a peaceful observance, the local administration implemented stringent security measures across the city and throughout the Shaheed Minar premises.
