BD Nouka Baich Group President GM Shanto Mondol said that extensive preparations are underway this year centering on traditional boat racing. In the current season, 25 new boats are being constructed. Of these, 10 boats are being built in Pabna district and 15 in Sirajganj district. In addition, 25 boats built in previous years are already available. As a result, a total of 50 boats are currently ready for nouka baich competitions.

He added that there is strong optimism that once the monsoon season begins, another 8 to 10 boats will be constructed. If that happens, the total number of boats this season could reach nearly 60.

Last year, under the supervision of the BD Nouka Baich Group, a boat race was organized at the Bri Angaru Beel area in Shahzadpur, Sirajganj. The event was completed very successfully. Later, another major race was held on the Ramkantapur Fuljhor River in Ullapara under the leadership of Palash Bhai. According to the organizers, at least 500,000 spectators were present during the final race. The overall event was lively, colorful, and highly engaging.

In addition, the Mojo Pansi Nouka Baich held at Baghabari was also organized under the overall supervision of the BD Nouka Baich Group. Baghabari is widely known as a world-cup-level venue for traditional boat racing. Altogether, last year’s events received an overwhelming response from boat race enthusiasts.

GM Shanto Mondol said that the success of last year’s races was the result of the group’s organized and disciplined planning. Inspired by that success, between 15 and 25 new boats are being constructed this year.

He expressed confidence that the boat races in the 2026 season will be even more grand and attractive. He also thanked Asian Truth for covering the events and supporting traditional sports. He noted that American content creator has shown interest in visiting Bangladesh this year to watch the boat races.

He said that such international attention would further inspire local communities and help present Bangladesh’s traditional boat racing culture on a global stage. He also expressed hope that more people will become interested in building boats next year, expanding the scope of nouka baich across the country.
