A 10-year-old schoolboy named Mohammad Tuhin was killed after being run over by a cement-laden truck on the Abdul Wahed Janata Government Primary School Road in Gaital, Kishoreganj town.
The accident occurred on Friday (July 24) around 10:30 AM. Tuhin was a fourth-grade student at the local primary school.
Upon receiving news of the tragic accident, a patrol team from Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, the patrol team members discovered that the deceased child was none other than the son of Constable Shamsul Haq, the driver of the very same patrol vehicle.
Deceased Tuhin was the son of Constable Shamsul Haq, who serves as a driver at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station. Their ancestral home is in Netrokona district.
Duty Officer Tania Naznin of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station stated that news of a road accident in the Janata School Road area was received via a phone call in the morning. They were informed that a schoolboy had been killed under the wheels of a cement-loaded truck, though the victim’s identity was unknown at the time. A patrol team immediately dispatched to the scene, with Constable Shamsul Haq driving the police vehicle.
When the patrol team arrived, they found that the child killed under the truck was Shamsul Haq’s son, Tuhin. Seeing the sight, the heartbroken father broke down in grief as his colleagues tried to console him. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Abul Kalam Bhuiyan, also arrived at the scene shortly after.
According to local sources, Tuhin had left his house in Gaital on a bicycle that morning. A cement-laden truck ran over him on Janata School Road, causing his death on the spot.
Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station OC Md. Abul Kalam Bhuiyan stated that he rushed to the spot upon receiving the news. The boy’s body was recovered and sent to the morgue at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital. The truck involved in the accident has been seized, though the driver managed to flee. Necessary legal action is currently being taken regarding the incident.
