According to sources familiar with US intelligence, Russia is reportedly sharing sensitive information with Iran about the locations and movements of American troops, ships, and aircraft. This development has raised serious concerns and marks the first clear sign that Moscow may be directly supporting Tehran in the ongoing conflict. If confirmed, the intelligence could help Iran carry out more precise attacks against US forces in the region.
Much of the information is believed to come from Russia’s advanced satellite network, which is capable of capturing detailed imagery. Access to such data would significantly enhance Iran’s surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, giving it insights far beyond what its own systems can provide.
It is still unclear what Russia might be receiving in return for this cooperation. However, the reports have already heightened tensions in an already fragile region. Officials at the White House have largely played down the claims. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the administration is closely monitoring the situation and emphasized that the US military is ready to respond to any potential threats.
During a recent roundtable discussion, President Donald Trump also brushed aside questions about Russia’s alleged involvement, calling them “stupid questions.” He added that the United States is currently “decimating” Iranian forces.
Despite these reassurances, many military analysts warn that such intelligence sharing could put American service members at greater risk. Their concerns have intensified following the March 1 drone strike in Kuwait that killed six US Army Reservists.
Retired US Army Colonel Peter Mansour suggested that Russia’s actions could be a form of retaliation for the intelligence support the United States has been providing to Ukraine. According to him, this situation highlights how conflicts around the world are becoming increasingly connected, with actions in one region influencing tensions in another.
