A pre-event meeting has been held ahead of the Ramkantapur Boat Race, which is scheduled to take place next month on the Fuljhor River.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Palash, Chief Coordinator of the BD Boat Race Group and Director of the Ramkantapur Boat Race Organizing Committee, along with around 150 villagers and local community leaders.
The discussion focused on the overall preparations for the event, including logistics, safety measures, participation, and crowd management.
Speaking at the meeting, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Palash said that last year’s Ramkantapur Boat Race attracted an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 spectators along both banks of the Fuljhor River. He expressed confidence that this year’s event would be even bigger.
He also mentioned that around 20 new racing boats have been built, and he expects approximately 40 boats to participate in this year’s competition.
The meeting reflected the excitement and enthusiasm of the local community as preparations continue for one of the region’s most anticipated traditional sporting events. According to the organizers, the boat race is expected to be held between August 20 and August 25.
