A 35-year-old man was killed and at least eight others were injured in a violent clash between two village groups over an eve-teasing incident in Ullapara Upazila, Sirajganj district, on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shah Alam, son of Chand Ali of Rashidpur village. He succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to local sources, a group of youths from Kashinathpur village had allegedly harassed young women in the Rashidpur Uttarpara area for several days. When local residents protested and asked them to stay away, tensions escalated, leading to a violent clash between the two sides.
Several people were injured during the confrontation and treated at nearby health facilities.
The incident was confirmed by Salanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imam Zafar, who said police were investigating the matter and that legal action would be taken against those involved.
