A violent clash between two rival groups erupted in Badhunagar village under Srinagar Union of Bhairab Upazila in Kishoreganj, triggered by a trivial incident. At least 30 people from both sides were injured in the bloody confrontation.
The clash took place on Tuesday morning (May 5) between members of the Forsha Bari and Nawab Bari households. Among the injured, two individuals Chan Mia and Mizan Mia sustained critical injuries and were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care. The remaining injured received treatment at Bhairab Upazila Health Complex.
According to local and police sources, the incident began when several teenagers from Forsha Bari went to pick mangoes from a tree belonging to Ayatullah Mia of Nawab Bari. The act led to a heated argument and verbal altercation between the two parties. Tensions escalated further on Tuesday morning, eventually prompting members of both groups to engage in a full-scale clash armed with local weapons, turning the entire area into a battleground.
Upon receiving the news, police from Bhairab Police Station rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. Additional police personnel have since been deployed in the area, and the situation is currently calm.
Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ataur Rahman Akanda stated that no written complaint has been received so far regarding the incident, adding that legal action will be taken following an investigation once a complaint is filed.
